Desc: After the War: Finsbury Stories: Directed by Derek Smith. Filmed over the last year with members of the St Luke's Community History Group many of whom survived the London Blitz. The first generation to be involved in rebuilding post-war Britain they now remain some of the last citizens to call themselves Finsbury People. A London borough lost to local government reorganization in 1965 Finsbury was a proud and thriving London Borough with a mainly socialist council. Finsbury led with innovative social housing schemes and created the first purpose-built health center in Britain long before the National Health was established. This documentary explores community, identity and belonging with unusual intimacy as our group describe their experiences of the Blitz and post war lives.
